Sunday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 27th AUG, 2017) – Blessed of God

“But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth [it]; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.” Matthew 13:23

The parables of Jesus appear so simple but they communicate deep truths.

So many Christians have made these parables fables and as such, they get nothing from them. Through the parable of the sower, Jesus likens the Word of God to a seed. Verse 18-23 shows different scenarios that made the seed futile.

You see, no wise man takes a fruit over a seed. This is because the seed has the potential to bear forth more and more fruits.

The Word of God is the seed; it is the true blessing.

If you want to be blessed, don’t go for material possessions; rather, go for the Word.

Take as a case study, Esau and Jacob. When Isaac unknowingly blessed Jacob instead of Esau, it was by His words. In the same vein, when God wanted to bless us, He did so by giving us His Word (Jesus). This is because the material possessions, the riches and all the good things of life are embodied in the Word.

The true blessing of life lies in the Word.

Your blessing in life is tied to the Word of God. It is the only thing that would make you thrive here on earth.

A seed does not become a tree in a day. It takes time for the seed to bear fruits. The time taken for the seed to be a tree is a process of refinement. God takes you through this process so your patience is tested.

The fruits the seed (the Word) would bear, are the material things we see. Proverbs 10:22 says,

“The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” 

From the above text, we see that the blessing is singular. This shows that all you require from God is one thing and the rest would automatically follow.

The blessing of God is not the riches; the riches are products of the blessing.

The parable of the sower also shows that the productivity of the seed is dependent on you. Allow the Word produce in you. Create the right environment for the seed to germinate and bear forth more fruits.

DECLARATION:
God’s Word is producing tens of thousands of fold in me. I am blessed of God!
