I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. John 15:1-2

Yesterday, we saw that the first step to becoming alive to God is getting identified in Christ. This is because He is the source of life, and outside this source, all that exists is death. You can never know, live, and fulfill life outside of Christ. He is a fountain of life, and through His light, we see light. But there is another way God sees death.

God sees unfruitfulness as death.

This is a different category on its own. Through our opening scripture, we see that God would prune down every unproductive branch. You see, the very moment you received Christ into your heart you became a branch of the true vine.

Salvation gets you connected to the vine (that is, to life); but your level of productivity keeps you connected.

Your fruitfulness ensures you remain connected to life.

Just as the vinedresser would remove all branches that are dead, God also would take away all those Christians in His vine that have refused to bear fruit.

When God takes you away, you become dead. When God takes a man away, it implies that He has disengaged and severed that man from the source of life; which invariably means the man becomes dead.

It is a curse to be connected to life itself and be dead.

God sees you as an existing entity for a purpose. He doesn’t just want you to discover purpose; He wants you to fulfill it.

It doesn’t end at you receiving salvation, rather it begins there. If getting yourself identified in Christ was the end of it, then don’t you think you should have gone to heaven the very moment you received Christ into your hearts?

God wants you to be productive; to bear results. He wants you to effectively utilize His life, His Word, His Son, and His Spirit.

God can’t give all these free to you, and you end up barren. You know how a parent feels when he uses all he has for a child but the child ends up unproductive.

God isn’t concerned about how productive you are. He just wants to see results with all you have received.

For the productive Christian, God prunes and cleans Him that he might bear forth more fruit. Do all to remain alive; get involved in the work; start producing results with the Word.

DECLARATION:
I stay connected to life. I am productive. I am not just a Christian, but a purpose fulfiller.
