He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly. Proverbs 14:29 KJV

The day I came across the scripture that says,

Wherefore my brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: for the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God

James 1:19-20 it made me pause.

The GW rendering puts the underlined parts as,

An angry person doesn’t do what God approves of.

Contrary to the popular believe of many, that God understands our humanity and would in extension, understand our anger and the reason for it, the truth of the word of God shows that God neither understands or approves of it.

As we walk with the Lord in our interaction with people, we’ve got to learn to act and react as our Father.

If God reacts in anger every time you do something wrong, what would become of you? When you hastily react to a perceived wrong of offense, our opening text says you are exalting foolishness.

Many wrongly believe that they must address everyone that offends them so they could be free. This mentality is wrong, it comes from the devil.

It’s simple and easy to find a man of understanding; find that man who has restraint, that thinks before he acts or speaks. You’ve got to learn to make excuses for people and constantly give yourself reasons why you should not be angry or offended because your anger cannot produce the righteousness of God.

Your value and understanding is verified when it is tested. When things go wrong learn to tell yourself that there is something God is working out for your good.

DECLARATION:
I react like God in every situation. I never exalt foolishness in my life. I am a man of understanding.
