Remember God in Your Youth- Remember [thoughtfully] also your creator in the
days of your youth [for you are not your own, but His]… Ecclesiastes 12:1a (AMP)

This scripture is one that I just can’t get enough of. You see, God is a master communicator. No one communicates better than He does. Yesterday, through this scripture, we saw that there is a tendency to forget God in our youthful age. While meditating on this scripture earlier today, I realized that God used the phrase, “…Remember [thoughtfully]…” to show us something important.

The first place where the Word of God would have an effect on a man’s life is his mind. Little wonder, John 5:39 says,

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

Once you remember God thoughtfully and start thinking the Word, you find out that living the Christian life is such an easy feat.

As a youth, once you allow God and His Word to become your thinking process; that is, once you consciously decide not to forget Him, you would be undefeatable.

2 Timothy 2:22 says,

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Youthful lusts are more than the lusts of the flesh or the mind or the desire for power. There are those voices that can drive you out of the will of God. It could be anything; a phone call, a movie, or a friend. Scripture is admonishing us to flee from anything that has the possibility of taking you out of the will of God.

One mistake that lots of Christians make is that they feel they can handle it. You see, there are certain things from which our greatest safety is in flight. Take Joseph as a case study. Genesis 39:12 says,

And she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his garment in her hand, and fled, and got him out.

Run away from any and everything that could be a taint to your Christianity. But in the process of fleeing youthful lusts, you have got to pursue after righteousness, faith, charity, and peace. You can only follow righteousness on the ground that you are not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ.

In following faith, your belief system and response to life must be inspired and driven by the Word of God. You also must ensure that the world sees the nature of God (which is love) in you.

Love is the bedrock of Christianity.

The whole world is to see the fullness of God through you. You must also follow peace; as the Gospel, we preach is the Gospel of peace.

DECLARATION:
I flee everything that could smear my Christianity. I pursue righteousness, faith, charity and peace. God is my thinking process!
