Thursday daily devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 18th JAN. 2018) – Life is Christ

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. 1 John 5:11-12

You know, it is totally impossible for me to stop learning and professing of the life that I have received in Christ Jesus. Growing up, I was always nervous whenever I heard someone talking about eternal life. It always brought to mind the consciousness that one might miss heaven. I would always be petrified after hearing a sermon about the rapture.

Being forced to read the book of Revelations was the highest degree of torture. I then realized something; you cannot be scared of what you are very sure of. It’s like writing an exam that you know you prepared for very well. After the exam, you cannot be scared; wondering if you would get an A+ or an E.

Whenever I hear people say, ‘You don’t know if you would make heaven’, I always disagree. I am totally sure that I would make heaven, and this is the level God wants you to come up to. Anyone who quivers when the rapture is being talked about is uncertain of his eternity.

The rapture is a homecoming for us. It is meant to be celebrated and anticipated! So many Christians have tarried so long, that they have succumbed to the lie that Christ would not return. You see, the same way a reasonable man wouldn’t marry a girl of 7 years, Jesus would not come for a church that it is immature.

That would be a taboo. Jesus, as the Head of the church, is fully grown. That is, He has achieved the
the highest level of maturity. He longs for us to come up to the measure of the stature of His fullness; so the bride and groom; the head and the body, may become one. Oh! How I love the Lord!

Through our opening scripture, we see that God would not give to us eternal life; rather, He has already given to us eternal life. People believe that eternal life would be received in heaven. This is
totally wrong! Without eternal life, you cannot get into heaven. Eternal life is carried from earth to heaven.

The moment you received Jesus into your life, you received eternal life. Eternal life is the God class of life; which was once separated for God only. But by reason of the Spirit of adoption (Romans 8:15), we became Sons of God; as such, the very life that God lives, we live. Glory to God!

DECLARATION
I’ve got the life of God at work in me! I would not stop proclaiming and learning more about this life. Nothing would take me away from the path of life.
