Friday Daily Devotional by Pastor David Okoye (Ambassadors Word Diet, 3rd AUG, 2018) – The State Of Your Spirit

And so it is written, the first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. 1 Corinthians 15:45

The real man is the Spirit man. That is, how much of a man you are isn’t tied to the money you have kept in a safe house, or how many awards and certifications you have received. How much of a man you are is determined by the state of your Spirit.

This is why every spiritually sensitive Christian knows that he isn’t body, soul, and Spirit; but Spirit, soul, and body. The Spirit comes first. God arranges in order of relative importance. The body of a man is of little concern to God. The prime focus to Him is your Spirit.

Reading down the chapter, the proceeding verses say,

Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.

Adam is referred to as the first man, because he is the root as it were from which we spring; he was the first of his kind. Christ is the latter man, because he is the beginning of all those that are spiritual, and in him we are all included.

Christ is called a Spirit, by reason of God who dwells in him bodily, as Adam is called a living soul, by reason of the soul which is the best part in him.

You see, everyone on earth is identified to a particular order; the first man (living souls), or the last man (a quickening Spirit).

The first man introduced death; therefore, all those that live in the order of this first man are dead to God. A quickening spirit is a vivifying spirit; a spirit giving or imparting life.

Not a being having mere vital functions, but a being who has the power of imparting life. Little wonder, scripture tells us in John 4:24,

God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

You can’t worship God, when you are not alive in Him; you must be a quickening spirit to. The proof of your living is determined by the state of your Spirit. Focus on what really matters.

Although, your body is important, but that doesn’t mean you should give more time and ascendancy to it. Invest your time in the development and up building of your Spirit.

DECLARATION
I focus on the development of my Spirit. I give time to building up my Spirit man. I am wiser than the devil!
