fatoyinbo wife speaks rape allegationsModele, the wife of the embattled founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo, has declared that her husband remains the father of the church.

Fatoyinbo had been accused of rape by Mrs Busola Dakolo, wife of inspiration musician, Timi Dakolo, and another unidentified lady within the space of one week.

The COZA founder has, however, denied the allegations and taken a leave of absence.

Modele, during the church’s service on Sunday, affirmed her husband as the “father” of COZA.

The church has branches in Lagos, Rivers, Kwara and Dubai, with the headquarters located in Abuja.

Modele, who was barely audible amid the loud cheers of congregants, said, “One of the things that I say about my husband is that I would have never had the opportunity — I used to be so shy to talk to one person. I used to let him do all the talking because I was a very introverted person. But he was able to help me see, like he was able to help many of us see, that there was greatness in me.

“So, I don’t have a problem standing before you this morning. The Lagos church, the Ilorin church, the Port Harcourt church, anywhere it is, Pastor Biodun is the father of that church. I’m not your friend if you don’t celebrate this man.”

Mrs Fatoyinbo spoke just as the Christian Association of Nigeria, in a statement by its General Secretary, Joseph Daramola, on Sunday, expressed displeasure that the Christendom had been subjected to ridicule on account of the allegations levelled against Fatoyinbo, who the apex Christian body in the country described as one of the nation’s leading pastors.

The statement read, “The leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria is seriously concerned about the disturbing situation concerning Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo, the General Overseer of Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, one of our leading pastors in the country, on whom an allegation of rape has been levelled by one of our daughters, Mrs Timi Dakolo.”

The umbrella Christian body announced its intention to intervene in the face-off, saying, “Since both Pastor Fatoyinbo and Mrs Timi Dakolo are Christians, the leadership of CAN is already seeking ways to address the issues in order to heal every wound already inflicted on the parties concerned and the body of Christ in general.”

CAN said it hoped the conflict would not get worse.

“As we seek the help of CAN elders and the Holy Spirit in resolving the current problem, it is our prayer that both parties will sheathe their swords and stop the media war in the interest of the Church and for the greater glory of God,” it added.
