Former undisputed heavyweight Mike Tyson agrees on one thing – he would lose a fight with one his idols, Muhammad Ali.
In recent heavyweight fantasy tournament, which was put together by the World Boxing Super Series, Tyson defeated Ali in the final round to win the entire ball of wax.
But Tyson sees expects a much different outcome if they ever collided in real life in the primes of their respective careers.
“I know it’s a fantasy game. Most likely I would win the fantasy, I wouldn’t win the real fight,” Tyson told Yahoo Sports. “Ali’s the greatest there’s ever been.”
Ali, a three time heavyweight champion and Olympic gold medal winner, passed away in 2016 at the age of 74 following a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. He retired from the sport with 56 wins in his 61 fights, with 36 of those wins by knockout.
The boxer’s son, Muhammad Ali Jr., believes his father would take Tyson out.
“My father would have kicked his butt. Everybody says Mike Tyson would have kicked your father’s butt. I said no,” Ali Jr. told The Sun.
“Tyson can’t go the distance. He couldn’t go fifteen rounds. He’s not a boxer. He’s a street fighter. He’s a knockout artist. He can never hold up to my father!”
Tyson, 53-years-old, became the youngest fighter ever to capture the world heavyweight title when he knocked out Trevor Berbick at the age of 20 in 1986.
He left the sport in 2005, after picking up 50 wins in 58 fights, and 44 of those wins were by knockout.
