Bolton star Amir Khan believes Tyson Fury would easily defeat Anthony Joshua if the two heavyweights collided in a high stakes unification with all of the major titles at stake.
Fury holds the WBC title, while Joshua has the IBF, IBO, WBA, WBO belts.
The two champions reached an agreement on the financial terms for a two fight series.
Before that can happen, they will both have to win their upcoming assignments.
Fury has a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, which is targeted for a date in December. And Joshua will face mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev on a tentative date of December 12.
Should both champions win, they will likely collide in the first half of 2021.
Khan has always picked Fury to beat Joshua with ease and their recent performances only cement his opinion.
“My opinion, and I’ve always said, that Tyson Fury is the best heavyweight in the division. With the skillset he has got, he beats anyone with power. What he did to Deontay Wilder, no-one would expect that. If that same Fury goes into a fight with Anthony Joshua, it’s always going to be Fury that wins that,” Khan told Fighthype.com.
“I still favor him if he gets that fight and I think it will be an easy win for him. I feel AJ is more a robotic style, similar to a Frank Bruno style, and he is very strong. If AJ catches you then he’s going to hurt you.
“But we have seen Fury being hit by the hardest hitter, Wilder, being put down and he got back up again. All day going into that fight Fury wins. I think he has got everything on his side.”
