The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, announced this at a conference in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, on Monday.

The examination, which started on Friday, April 19, and ended on Monday, April 29, 2024, took place in 118 examination towns and 774 centers.

A total of 1,989,668 candidates registered for the UTME, the exam that grants access to higher education.

Out of these, 1,904,189 candidates sat for the exam. However, the board released the results of 1,842,464 candidates.

According to the JAMB registrar, 64,624 results are under investigation for various reasons.

Further breakdown of the examination shows that 2,896 results are under investigation for verification, 4,594 for procedural investigation of candidates, 57,056 for center-based investigation in 18 centers across Edo, Akwa Ibom, Delta, and Kwara, and 78 for alleged examination misconduct.

In terms of performance, JAMB reported that 0.4% of candidates scored above 300, while 24% scored 50% (200/400) and above.

Specifically, 8,401 candidates scored 300 and above, 77,070 scored 250 and above, and 439,974 scored 200 and above, with 1,402,490 candidates scoring below 200.

How to check JAMB 2024 result

JAMB advised candidates to text UTMERESULT to 55019/66019 using the phone numbers they used for registration to check their results, eliminating the need to visit a CBT center or cybercafé.

Candidates with JAMB 2024 results still under processing or absent will receive corresponding messages. However, the highest scorer was not announced as JAMB considers the UTME a ranking examination for admission purposes and wants to avoid controversies like the Mmesome saga.

JAMB urged organizations awarding prizes to high-performing candidates to verify with them first, as the highest scorer may not necessarily secure admission due to various institutional factors.
