Super Eagles: No Osimhen as Eguavoen names 23 players vs Libya

Super Eagles interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen has named a 23-man list for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Libya.

Nigeria will play the first leg of the match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Friday, October 11.

Missing from the squad is top striker Victor Osimhen who was excluded due to an injury he recently had while playing for his club side Galatasaray. Also missing due to injury is Orlando Pirates of South Africa defender Olisa Ndah.

The team’s captain William Troost-Ekong, who currently plays in the Saudi Pro League retains his place, also, Wilfred Ndidi and goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali and Maduka Okoye make the 23-man squad.

The return leg of the AFCON qualifiers will take place on Tuesday, October 15 in Benghazi at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium.

The Super Eagles camp will open in Uyo on Monday, October 7.
