“For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.” Romans 8:13-14

Our opening scripture shows us who a Son is. A Son is that individual that gives himself to be led by His Father.

Sons of God are those that decide to be led by God. These set of persons submit to the Lordship of God (His Spirit and His Word).

Take a look at Isaac. He showed what being a true Son entails. When God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, Abraham did not hesitate. He got up, took all that was needed for the sacrifice, and took Isaac as well. At this time, Isaac was not a toddler; he was growing up into becoming a man.

Isaac followed Abraham till they got to the designated place. After helping his Father prepare the altar for the sacrifice, Isaac figured out he was to be the lamb. Bear in mind that Abraham was over a hundred years old at this time and Isaac could have easily overpowered him and ran for his life. But he submitted to his Father’s lordship, laid on that altar and was willing to be sacrificed. What a heart!

This is the mind-set you ought to imbibe in your work with God. Our opening text says,

“For as many as are led… ”

The word led means to guide, pilot and direct. If you would be led successfully, you must first decide to follow.

Your proof of sonship is in your ability to follow. John 10:27 says,

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” 

Only those who choose to be shepherded by God would hear His voice and follow it. In our dispensation, God speaks to and leads us through His Word, His Spirit and His leaders in your life.

Determine your state when it comes to obeying instructions.

Grow into son-ship. Only sons would stand. In a matter of time, those who are not sons would fall off the train. True sons will always be graced to do the work even in the midst of challenges.

Become a Son today; choose to be led by God.

DECLARATION
I submit myself to the lordship of God. I do not lead myself; I choose to be led by God. I am a true son.
